IDB Development Speakers is a local chapter of Toastmasters International located at the Inter-American Development Bank. Formed in 1993, IDB Development Speakers is a multi-cultural and multi-lingual club with members from a wide variety of countries, who work at the Bank or surrounding businesses.
We meet twice a month for an hour to practice conducting meetings and presenting prepared and impromptu speeches and evaluations.

To h
ave the opportunity to practice public speaking in a friendly and comfortable setting with people who are participating to improve personal communication and leadership skills.
The fact that we are a multilingual group makes the IDB Development Speakers Club special. Speeches can be given in English, Portuguese or Spanish. This is helpful to our members, as public speaking is a great way to practice a foreign language.
Toastmasters International and IDB Development Speakers Club use a learn-by-doing approach. Members improve their skills and confidence in a supportive educational and entertaining atmosphere. All speakers receive focused feedback from other members for every speech. The program helps you identify specific accomplishments and areas for improvement. And, unlike a formal class, the Toastmasters program is self-paced, which makes it easy for those who have travel or who are very busy.
